ECO is a natural louvred ventilator suitable for natural day to day and smoke control ventilation. ECO conforms to EN 12101-2 and is CE marked. It can provide inlet or extract ventilation as well as permit the entry of natural daylight for most kinds of industrial and commercial buildings.
ECO louvred ventilators are suited to most industrial and commercial buildings and are among the most cost-effective kinds of natural ventilators.
They are popular with Specifiers and Contractors because of the wide range of options available, and Building Operators and Owners because of their simplicity and low maintenance.
Wide range of applications- ECO is classed as a dual purpose ventilator, providing day to day and smoke control ventilation and fire ventilation. ECO can also be installed in the vertical either for low level air inlet or for high level extract.
Polycarbonate and glass versions allow the entry of natural daylight. ECO smoke vent is also often used as a termination piece for large ducted or air handling systems. There are pneumatic, electric or hand controls and a wide range of louver types, accessories and finishes
High performance - ECO smoke vent is aerodynamically efficient and has a high resistance to weather.
Easy to install - ECO is delivered fully assembled to site and may be installed at any angle from the horizontal to the vertical. It has a wide range of base profiles to suit all sheeting, curb or glazing applications. Bases are customised to suit the installation into either curtain walling, glazing or prepared openings.
Durable - ECO smoke vent is manufactured from tough, corrosion resistant aluminium alloy, grade 3005 in accordance with EN573-3, with stainless steel fixings. louvers pivot on double nylon UV- resistant bearings.
Certified performance - ECO has been exhaustively tested and certified to EN 12101-2: 2003 in accredited third party test laboratories and is CE marked.
Quality of manufacture - ECO is manufactured under the ISO 9000 quality standard. Each unit is given a functional test before despatch.
Design service - Colt provides a pre-order design service. Please contact Colt for more information relating to the application, specification, installation or servicing of ECO.
There are some restrictions on the maximum size of the ventilator if glass louvers are used. Colt can advise on this.
Depending on the application, louvers made from:
These reduce air leakage when the ventilator is closed.
Suitable for fixing either onto a curb, into glazing, into curtain walling, or into roof sheeting.
For both electric and pneumatic versions, either double-action locking mechanisms, failsafe open or failsafe closed.
If used as a smoke ventilator, activation is either by local thermal fuse which opens the unit at a pre-selected temperature, or by responding to an external release signal.
Its performance varies with the size and options selected. Most tests to EN 12101-2.
|Aerodynamic coefficient (Cv)||up to 0.68|
|Reliability||RE 1000 (10,000 cycles)|
|Wind load||up to WL 4,000 N/m²|
|Snow load||up to SL 2,000 N/m²|
|Resistance to heat||B 300|
|Low ambient temperature operation||T(00) to T(-25)|
|Materials resistance to fire||B or E (to EN 13501-1)|
|U value||up to 3.2 W/m2/K*|
|Sound insulation||up to 11.0 dB R'w|
Tested to and in compliance with EN 12101-2 and CE marked.
* In many cases a U value of at least 3.5 W/m²/K is required to meet local Regulations. This value can be achieved or surpassed if the ventilator is installed on an upstand which protrudes above the outer membrane of the roof. Colt can advise on this.
